About the Job
Our client is currently seeking a Senior Specialist Database Admin to work on an upcoming assignment.?
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The duties of the Senior Specialist Database Admin will include:
*Monitor, maintain and support databases:
*Develop and implement backup, recovery, checkpoint/?restart methodology and procedures to reduce system down time.?
*Monitor and tune databases to resolve any system problems.?
*Provide 7×24 DBA on-call support to various systems.?
*Provide support to the Peoplesoft administration team
*Provide DBA support for Peopletools Upgrade and Major peoplesoft application upgrade.?
*Work with the Peoplesoft administration team to identify, trace and fix performance problems.?
*Review and tune production Peoplesoft queries, SQR, Cobol and application engine programs.?
*Provide support for DB2 connect and CAE
*Provide DBA expertise in application development
*Design and maintain physical databases based on defined requirements such as specified performance and volume.?
*Participate in system and data analysis with application development team to ensure consistent, efficient and easy-to-maintain databases.?
*Plan and execute disaster recovery procedure.?
*Evaluate new database software, tools
*Evaluate and appraise new database software and products by interacting with software vendors/?suppliers, attending seminars, conferences and workshops.?
*
Provide database support to test new application software releases through planning, coordinating and customization
*
Make recommendations for acquisition of hardware and software.?
*
Establish and promote DBMS standards, best practices within DBA team and other areas within the division.?
*
Provide technical advice on optimal use of DBMS facilities, structure of application programs and data integrity.?
*
Introduce new DBMS features, train and provide tips on solutions to junior DBAs.?
*
Developing standards, procedures and methods for DBA best practices.?
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
*
DB2/?OS/?390 experience (8-10 years of experience)
*
DBA experience with DDL, SQL, utilities, QMF and CICS/?DB2 applications.?
*
Experience in Installing and upgrading DB2 and third party tools for DB2.?
*
Peoplesoft v.?8 experience including: PS security, Peopletools, PeopleCode, Datamover and data migrations in a large Peoplesoft environment.?
*
Peoplesoft HRMS, Financials application on DB2 platform (3 ‘ 5 years)
*
Peoplesoft version 8 experience (2 ‘ 3 years).?
*
Performance analysis and tuning of PS Query, Application engine, SQR
*
DB2 Connect, OS/?390 Unix system services.?
*
Provide support for the development team in setting up Plans/?Packages and maintain database security.?
*
Provide technical support for the development team to setup, debug DB2 applications
*
DB2 on mainframe (8 ‘ 10 years of experience).?
*
Third party tools such as DB2PM, BMC recovery manager, FileAid for DB2.?
*Knowledge of Peoplesoft HRMS, Financials application on DB2 platform.?
*College/?University education and 10 years of work experience or equivalent combination
*Formal training in DB2, OS/?390 environment
*DB2 Database administration certification is a plus.?
